Debenhams designer homeware packaging

Whilst working as Design Manager for Debenhams Retail, Paul Cartwright created the designer homeware packaging direction for designer Kevin McCloud’s new range of dining, glasswear and home accessories products.

Aware of Kevin’s design sensitivity and environmental concerns, the packaging was developed to be as basic and honest as possible and use materials that were recyclable and still fit for purpose in protecting the breakable products.

Raw corrugated cardboard constructions that were simple to construct and were honest in their purpose reflected a unique edge to this range of designer products.

Elastic ‘bands’ with silicon rubber badges that acted as closing devices and one piece silicon ‘flags’ used on the stems of glassware were used to introduce the brand colouration.
